Meeting Sister Lenna

My husband Rob and I are working with the less fortunate in Belize.  It has been very rewarding, but also so heart wrenching to witness such poverty.  So many amazing people we have met during our journey.

We are really touched by our encounter with Sister Lenna, who used to work at an orphanage, who can no longer work because of her damaged knees, which causes her excruciating pain.

Sister Lenna lives in a run down little house in the middle of nowhere.  She walked a mile down the main road to meet us so we wouldn't miss her home - we can only imagine how painful it must have been.  We were so moved by how happy she is, what a huge smile!  We visited her and gave a supply of pain medication.  She was so sincerely thankful, her warm smile just made us so happy to be helping.  Looking around the small home we see no glass on the windows, no fridge, a stove without gas and no food.  We were both deeply touched and just had to act.  We will be visiting Sister Lenna again to bring her much needed groceries and gas for her stove. Hopefully we can surprise her with a new fridge too.

There are so many stories from this trip, we look forward to sharing with you.
